Prayers from Maria Field | Avon, OH
Every September a 50-acre field turns into a beautiful sunflower destination. While it’s incredibly breathtaking to walk through, the first thing I asked is “Where did these sunflowers come from?” and “Who is Maria?”
The Prayers from Maria Foundation first planted the Sunflower field in 2014 to gracefully draw attention to the lack of funding for childhood cancer. The field was inspired by the memory and spirit of Maria McNamara, planted as a way to love and honor the courageous children who are battling cancer and those we have lost.
This is a series of photos I had the honor of capturing while in the fields the last two years (2016 and 2017) when they bloomed. Once bloomed, the sunflowers only last few 2-3 weeks.
